There is a large PD created between two metal plates in a vacuum. The nuclei of atoms are composed of protons, which have a positive electrical charge, and neutrons, which are electrically neutral. Also, strong force is confining, meaning you can't ever observe individual color charged particles (color is a property associated with strong force), so there can't really be a macroscopic equation for them. To the extent that these programs permitted, it was not established that any of the designs would have been commercially competitive with existing light water reactors.

Such experiments are coming on line in the next few years. Some of the latter are immediate (so-called prompt neutrons), but a small proportion (0.66% for U-235, 0.27% for U-233, 0.23% for Pu-239) is delayed, as these are associated with the radioactive decay of certain fission products. The equation shows how a small amount of mass can contain large amounts of energy within it due to this c^2 'conversion factor' being so large. Practice of LRW treatment shows that the main source of problems in evaporation equipment are the heat exchange pipes.

You can put one electron in easy, however the Pauli Exclusion principle says 2 electrons can’t occupy the same quantum state so the second one has to have the opposite spin. It's not a terribly useful limit for the strong force but it is misleading to suggest that the strong force is something "entirely different". – Luboš Motl Apr 11 '11 at 18:38 @Lubos Motl thanks for your clarification. What exactly are certain basic principles of physical study, such as torque or quantum theory? But — as a physicist — that’s not what I think of at all. It is sort of like the earth whose orbital motion around the sun and rotational motion about its axis are different things; particle spin is sort of like the earth's rotational motion about its axis. The very high speed of the helium nuclei, and the high speed of the electrons (b rays) emitted by radioactive elements, and the high-energy electromagnetic radiation also emitted, and the heat measurements by the Curies, indicate that there is something going on in these elements which is very energetic indeed.

The real proof that nucleons were built up from quark-like objects came through the works of Jerome I. The well-known eigenstates to this problem are either even or odd under this transformation, see Fig. 8.2, and thus have either even or odd parity, − P ψ(x, t) = ψ(−x, t) = ±ψ(x, t), where P is the transformation that take x → −x. None of these processes is yet ready for commercial use, though one is close. When an alpha particle is emitted from a nucleus, it will have a specific amount of kinetic energy that’s determined by the decay parent (Po-210 in this case) and the large, daughter nucleus (Pb-206, lead, which is stable).
